Increasing organic traffic is not very easy, at the same time it is not very hard as well. But yes you have to be hardworking, sincere and creative too if you want to increase organic traffic to your blog.
Tips to Increase Organic Traffic
To increase organic traffic, your site must have SEO Optimized. But only optimizing your blog for SEO is not good enough.
Ok lets suppose you and me both are bloggers of the same niche. We both written a post on the same topic. Now this is the scenario of only two bloggers but in real world, you will find thousands of other bloggers of the same niche perhaps writing a post on the same topic as well.
So tell me whose post will rank higher in search engines? Can’t say right?
So everyone is optimizing their site. Then why your site deserve to be on the first page? So don’t only think about optimizing your blog for SEO instead think out of the box to beat your competitors on SEO.
Some of the basic things we need to do for increasing our organic traffic is.
Submit your blog to search engines using webmaster tools
This is actually the very first step in SEO. You need to submit your blog to all the search engines.
But the godfather is Google as you all know. So submit on google first. And if we talk about the top three then create webmaster account on
And submit your blog with a sitemap. A sitemap is actually a map of your blog. And yes it contains all the addresses of your website (As from the name it is clear, it is a map, and map tells us the address or path). You can generate a sitemap for your website using the various tools available.
If you are using WordPress which I am sure many of the readers are using then you can generate a sitemap easily with SEO plugin by Yoast.
You can track your site’s search engine traffic from webmaster tools. I use google webmaster. And it tells me about everything related to my blog like backlinks, search engine ranking position (SERP), the total number of clicks I am getting from search engine etc.
It also tells us which keywords are ranking on top of SERP and which keyword is getting how many clicks.
Maintain regularity / Be Sincere
Yes, you have to be sincere, develop and publish content on your niche. If you are a new blogger then I will recommend you to publish twice a week. But only being regular is not enough.
You also have to write great content. Publish content that your readers want to read and at the same time, you have to maintain regularity.
So before publishing on any topic, prepare draft by researching on the topic. Then make some good images for your headings.
Don’t just google for images, create images on your own. You can use photoshop or any other photo editing tool for creating images for you post. I use canvas. Put the images at the proper position. And then publish your post.
So you have to work hard for every single post in your blog. And you have to be regular as well. So publishing twice or thrice a week is a good frequency for a newbie blogger.
Optimize your posts for SEO
Only writing a great content is not enough. To increase organic traffic, your content should be optimized. Put keywords on your paragraphs, heading tags, alt texts.
Now days you have to focus on LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) Keywords.
Lets say I have to write on a topic about “business greeting cards”. So “business greeting cards” is my primary keyword.
I will now search for this keyword on google (see the google search snapshot below)
In almost every result you will see some bold text. Collect these words. These are the LSI keywords for you primary keyword. Put these keywords to your content.
Keep in mind that you cannot compromise with the quality of the content for filling it with keywords. Your content should look natural. So don’t just forcefully stuff your keyword.
Some points you should care while writing a blog post are:
- Easy to read: Write short, simple readable sentences. You can also use the 7 Cs of Communication if you are aware.
- Keywords: Use Keywords on paragraphs, headings, alt texts, links, but don’t compromise with the quality.
- Images: Use good images to engage your readers.
- Load Time: You should also care about the page size, don’t use heavy images.
- Length: You posts should be of good length, usually around 800 to 100 words. At the same time don’t fill your post with crap as we always do in our examinations. 😛
- Meta: Write meta description and use keywords in meta descriptions as well.
Promote As Much As You Can
A great content does not worth a penny unless it don’t gets readers. So after publishing promote your post.
Think out of the box for content promotion. As a blogger, the content is your product and you have to market for it.
So be a little creative and plan strategies for content marketing.
You can promote your post on
- Social media
- Content submission sites
These are very common things. I will tell you to be innovative think out of the box. And don’t think your idea is silly. In my personal opinion you actually need a silly idea. So go on don’t be shy and promote your posts with your silly ideas 😉
Getting a lots of organic traffic is not any rocket science. It cannot be done like magic. If you really want to increase organic traffic of your blog then, it will take time and patience. But just give your all efforts, be honest and you will achieve the things you wanted for sure.
